First Serve Opportunity Details...

Saturday Night C-Crew (1-2 hours/month) As part of this crew you get to help prepare our facility for the big Sunday Morning rush.  This includes taking decor such as our curtains down, vacuuming the foyer, touching up glass and mirrors, cleaning bathrooms, taking out garbage, and sweeping and mopping the auditorium as necessary.  We put teams together of 2-3 people who will work once a month.  Start time on Saturday nights is 7:30pm and you can usually count on being done no later than 9:00pm.  To volunteer for this position please email the office or call 577-3463.

Saturday Morning Facility Care (1-3 hours/month) In this role you will help The staff team do general custodial and minor maintenance to our facility.  This may include the following depending on the week and what is deemed necessary: glass cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal, auditorium set-up, table wiping, dry and/or wet mopping, kitchen cleaning, laundry folding, minor repairs, paint touch-ups.  Ultimately Jordon is responsible for making sure our facility is at its utmost in presentation.  But it’s a big facility that can always use more care than is always able to be given.  At this time we are looking for people willing to commit to one Saturday a month and volunteer for one of two shifts a month (8:00am-10:00am or 10:00am to 12:00noon). To volunteer for this position please email the office or call 577-3463.

Café (2-5 hours/month) Help guests feel welcome by providing refreshing coffee and tea.  As a Café’ volunteer you will set out our various coffee and tea carafes and supplies, prepare tea and coffee on our cool automatic coffee makers, and possibly clean up.  You will be required to arrive 45 minutes prior to the service you are serving at.  Café is an area we hope to continue to develop in the future so that more connection and personal contact can take place.  You will be able to choose how often and at which services you will volunteer. To volunteer for this position please email the office or call 577-3463.

Welcome Centre (2-5 hours/month) Welcome, give directions, and answer questions for our guests.  This is a really enjoyable opportunity.  You will be the “focus of attention” for people asking all kinds of questions (don’t worry, we’ll help you know the answers) as well as the welcoming face for newcomers looking for coherence in the jungle that is Redwood’s Sunday mornings!  You will need to show up 30 minutes before the start of the service you are working and don’t forget to wear your smile! To volunteer for this position please email the office or call 577-3463.

Sunday Night C-Crew (3-5 hours/month) As part of this crew you will help get our facility back into prime operating condition after the Sunday morning services and Plunge.  Plunge crews make sure their set - up is dismantled so we are able to do our jobs. This team works between 9:00pm and 11:30pm Sunday nights doing various facility care duties such as vacuuming, trash removal, glass cleaning, dry and/or wet mopping, and so on.  We are asking just once a month to volunteer for this position please email the office or call 577-3463.

Usher (2-5 hours/month) Help guests feel welcome by assisting in seating, presenting bulletins, taking offerings and more.  Ushering is a vitally important ministry and is sometimes overlooked.  How people are brought into the auditorium is very important and there is an art to it that takes time to learn.  You will be able to choose how often and at which services you will volunteer. To volunteer for this position please email the office or call 577-3463.

Weekday Facility Care (1-5 hours/month) Help us keep our facility in excellent physical shape by doing special cleaning projects (kitchen, windows, etc.) and minor maintenance.  There are always things around Redwood that could look better or be cleaner.  We’re looking for someone with a good eye for detail and time off during workdays to help keep our facility well cared for.  On this one, you get to choose when you’re available and for how long. To volunteer for this position please email the office or call 577-3463.

Greeter (1-2 hours/month) Welcome people at our main entry door with a nice handshake and a warm smile.  For each service we have greeters at our main entry door welcoming guests as they enter.  We are looking for people that enjoy people and can arrive early before almost anyone else.  Greeters are required to arrive 30 minutes before the service.  Fifteen minutes after the start of the service, Greeters are welcome to go into the service.  This volunteer opportunity takes less than 45 minutes on any given weekend.  You will be able to choose how often and at which services you will volunteer. To volunteer for this position please email the office or call 577-3463.
